Transmission Control Module, Removing And Installing

Component location: The control module is located in the center plenum chamber, near ECM.

Removing
- Open hood.







- Pry off both covers - 3 - using a screwdriver.
- Wiper arm, removing







- Remove rubber seal -1 - for plenum chamber cover.
- Remove plenum chamber cover - 2 - and disconnect washer fluid line.
- Disconnect washer nozzle heating electrical connectors.
- Switch ignition on.







- Activate windshield wipers and switch ignition off when both wiper linkage points - a - point towards right.

NOTE:
- This step is necessary to obtain better access to the TCM.
- Harness connector of Transmission Control Module (TCM) may only be disconnected or connected 30 seconds after ignition is switched off.







- Release connector in direction of arrow and disconnect from TCM.

NOTE: Protect fenders and plenum chamber metal from scratches with adhesive tape.

- Remove 4 nuts securing control module.
- Remove Transmission Control Module (TCM).

NOTE: Protect fenders from scratches with adhesive tape.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order. When doing this note the following:

NOTE: Adaptation values in Transmission Control Module (TCM) are reset when disconnecting the harness connector. Control module must learn this value anew after bringing into operation again. Gear changing quality may be poorer than normal during this "learning" process.

- Tighten 4 control module securing nuts to 10 Nm.
