Monitor Wire in Backrest, through 10.05

The lower backrest cover must be removed to remove and install the monitor wire for the Multimedia Display Unit 1 (Y22).

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

- Remove the lower backrest cover.

- Remove multimedia display unit 1 in headrest. Refer to => [ Multimedia Display Unit 1 ] Rear Seat Entertainment System, High Alpine.

The monitor wire is routed in the headrest tube. If malfunctioning, the monitor wire at lower connector must be disconnected.

- Disconnect harness connector of black monitor wire in seat at bottom and cut it off.

Raise disconnected connectors. Use them for connector assignment.

- Cut the cable tie - arrow - inside the headrest.





- Remove cable clips along the wire routing in seat backrest - arrows -.





It is advantageous for the subsequent routing of the new wire to document (with photos or sketches) the wire routing in the seat backrest before removal.

The wire on the seat wiring harness is routed in the lower section of the seat.

- Remove all cable clips here.

- Pull the monitor wire - 2 - upward out of headrest tube - 1 -.





Installing

The monitor wire is supplied without the lower harness connector.

- Feed free end of monitor wire - 2 - through the headrest tube - 1 - and secure the monitor wire with a cable tie - arrow -.





- On the wire, mark the





Dimension a = 80 mm

and the

Dimension b = 230 mm

Dimensions represent the mounting points. Also see the old monitor wire.

- Secure the monitor wire at - dimension a - at top left spring - arrow 1 -.





- Form a loop and secure monitor wire at - dimension b - from behind on seat wiring harness - arrow 3 -.

- Secure the monitor wire to backrest plate - arrow 2 -.

- Pay special attention that the monitor wire from outlet of headrest tube up to mount - arrow 2 - can follow the adjustment movements of the active headrest without jamming or stressing.

- Continue routing monitor wire at backrest and seat wiring harness - arrows - up to harness connector of seat wiring harness.





After completing work on the seat, the 12-pin harness connector is installed.

Connector assignment, refer to => [ Monitor Cable beneath Seat Connector Assignment ] Rear Seat Entertainment System - Light, Through MY 06.

- Perform further installation in reverse order.
