Camshaft, Measuring Axial Play

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Dial Gauge Holder (VW 387)

• Dial Gauge (VAS 6079)

Procedure

- Perform measurement with guide frame removed.

- Secure Dial Gauge Holder (VW 387) with Dial Gauge (VAS 6079) on cylinder head as shown in illustration.





- Determine axial clearance.

• Axial clearance: 0.100 to 0.191 mm.
