Removal and Replacement
Cover with Recirculated Air Door
• A modified actuator cover with four bolting points instead of two. Refer to => [ Recirculation Door Motor ] , an adapted cover with recirculation flap and a wiring harness with a modified grommet - D - have been installed from December 03 as a running change.
• Beginning with MY 2008 a 3 x 3 mm, 130 mm long foam strip - C - into the left and right tongue and groove joint between the housing lower section - A -, the cover with recirculated air door - B - and evaporator cover - D -. The foam strips - C - prevent moisture from getting into the A/C unit.
• When installing the cover and recirculated air door, apply - B - a 3 x 3 mm, 130 mm long foam strip - C - into the left and right tongue and groove joint between the housing lower section - A - and the cover and recirculated air door - B - or seal this area with adhesive sealant, for example , Silicone Adhesive Sealant (D 176 001 A3). .
• If here are complaints about moisture condensation build-up on windshield, odors, moisture on the Fresh Air (V2) motor, and the vehicle does not have the foam strip - C - installed, then seal off the connection between the evaporator cover and the housing lower section with Silicone Adhesive Sealant (D 176 001 A3). Refer to => [ Evaporator ] Removal and Replacement.
• Before installing the air intake shroud, seal the housing near - C - and - D - with adhesive sealant, for example, with Silicone Adhesive Sealant (D 176 001 A3).
- Remove left and right plenum chamber covers.
- Remove dust and pollen filter. Refer to=> [ Dust and Pollen Filter ] Air Distributor Housing.
- Remove dome brace with reinforcement to cowl panel trim.
- Remove windscreen wipers and cowl panel trim.
- Remove bolts - A -.
- Release fasteners for wiring harness - C - on left and right of air conditioner.
- Remove cover - B -.
• If cover must be completely removed, actuator for recirculated-air door must also be removed. Refer to => [ Recirculation Door Motor ] .
• Install in reverse order of removal.
