Keyless Entry - Range for Transmitter is Insufficient

Condition
Range for remote transmitter key operation is insufficient.

There are no DTCs for this condition.

Technical Background
An electrostatic charge is induced into the antenna lead of the ignition starter switch during vehicle production. This charge causes damage to the antenna, which limits the range of operation for the remote transmitter key.

Production Solution
Improvements are planned and will be forthcoming.

Service
To aid in diagnosis, view field 3 in measuring value block 11 of the access start control unit, address word 05. The value should be approximately 150 when activating the remote transmitter key while standing away from the vehicle. If the value is significantly lower, replace the ignition starter switch.
