High Pressure Pump
Removing
There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure.
• Before opening high pressure components of the fuel injection system, pressure must be relieved to residual pressure.
- Reduce fuel pressure in high pressure area => [ Releasing Fuel Pressure on High Pressure Side ] Service Precautions.
- Free up coolant hoses at left of intake manifold.
- Loosen bolt - 1 - and remove bolt - 2 -.
- Remove left small coolant pipe from intake manifold.
• Coolant hoses - arrows - remain connected.
- Disconnect electrical connectors - 1 - and - 4 -.
- Disconnect fuel lines - 2 - and - 3 -.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Pull coolant hoses and small left coolant pipe slightly to left and remove high pressure pump.
Installing
• Tightening specifications => [ High Pressure Pump, Assembly Overview ] High Pressure Pump, Assembly Overview.
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
• Replace O-ring.
- Check plunger => [ (Item 3) Roller tappet ] High Pressure Pump, Assembly Overview for damage, replace if necessary.
- Coat plunger - 1 - with oil and insert correctly with guide - 2 - in cylinder head.
- Rotate crankshaft in direction of engine rotation at vibration damper bolt while pressing plunger into cylinder head until it reaches the deepest point - arrow -.
- Install small left coolant pipe.
