Vehicles With Automatic Headlight Range Control, Self Leveling Sensor



Components, assembly overview





1 - Hex bolt, 9 Nm

2 - Bracket

3 - Left Front Level Control System Sensor G78
^ Checked by On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
^ If malfunctions occur, follow "Guided Fault Finding" procedure using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051A Removing and installing

4 - Self-locking nut, 10 Nm
^ Always replace if removed

5 - Left Front Level Control System Sensor G78
^ Do not pull coupling rod off ball joint on Left Front Level Control System Sensor G78

6 - Bracket
^ Clip must face upward at track control link and towards rear of vehicle

7 - Hex socket head bolt, 4 Nm

8 - Pop rivet nut

Removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1332





^ Torque wrench V.A.G. 1410

Retaining clip for coupling rod of Left Front Level Control System Sensor G78 must be released when removing and installing track control link.

Note:
^ When attaching coupling rod to crank arm of Left Front Level Control System Sensor G78, use a 10 mm open-ended wrench (with dimension - A - = 4 mm) to avoid damaging seal.





- Dimension - A - = 4 mm

- Install wheels and tighten

- Use pliers to attach retaining clip for coupling rod from Left Front Level Control System Sensor G78 to track control link between stops.

When installing headlight range control components, make sure sensor crank and coupling rod are correctly positioned in relation to one another.

Note:
^ Coupling rod must be angled forward and downward.

^ Crank must face towards the rear.
