Transmission RPM Sensor, Checking

The Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor (G182) is a component of the Mechatronic unit in the transmission.

Requirements

The battery voltage must be at least 12.5 Volts.

All electrical consumers must be switched off.

The parking brake must be engaged.

The elector lever must be in the "P" position.

The Ground (GND) connections to transmission must be OK.

Test sequence





- Disconnect the electrical connector in the - direction of the arrow - and remove it from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).

- Observe safety precautions.

- Check the electrical harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.

If the electrical harness connector is not OK:

- Repair the malfunction.

If the electrical harness connector is OK:

- Check the wiring according to the wiring diagram:

If no malfunctions are found in the wiring:

- Replace the Mechatronic unit in the transmission.

Final procedures

1. Check the DTC memory. => [ Diagnostic Mode 03 - Read DTC Memory ] Diagnostic Mode 03 - Read DTC Memory.

2. If necessary, erase DTC memory of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217). => [ Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory ] Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory.

3. Generate readiness code. => [ Readiness Code ] Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes.
