Condition

When the vehicle is started, Navigation plus (RNS-E) route guidance activates on its own. During a previous ignition cycle the guidance had been cancelled or successfully completed, and therefore should remain inactive.

Technical Background

The Navigation plus internal memory flag for a completed route guidance is inadvertently erased.

Production Solution

Updated software, version 0150, beginning with November 2006 vehicle production.

Service

Perform software update using Version 2007 (or newer) Navigation plus DVD.

Note:
The software download takes approximately 5 minutes to complete and consists of two parts. Do not remove the DVD prior to completion.





1. Obtain a Version 2007 (or newer) Navigation plus DVD from dealership inventory or another stock vehicle and insert it into the Navigation plus unit. Within approximately 30 seconds, the software update will automatically begin. After approximately 2 minutes, the first part of the software is loaded and the system will reboot.





2. The second part of the download will begin and take approximately 2 minutes. Once the second part of the software is loaded, the system will reboot again.





3. Once the radio is powered on, press the CAR button then select Version to verify the Software Version is 0150, or higher. Eject the DVD used for the update and reinsert the customer's original DVD into the Navigation plus drive.

Beginning in November 2006, Version 2007 navigation DVDs have been installed in model year 2007 vehicles at the factory as well as shipped to dealers for all model year 2007 vehicles delivered from the port.

Should additional DVDs be necessary, they can only be purchased directly from Navteq.
