Removal and Replacement
Engine Oil, Draining, Replacing Filter
WARNING! Oil extraction not permitted with various engine types!
Note:
- Perform oil change at operating temperature.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hazet tension band -2171-1- or Oil filter wrench -3417-
- Oil extractor -VAG 1782-
- Oil Drain Adapter -T 40057- (2.0 TFSI)
Note:
- Observe waste disposal regulations!
4.2 MPI
- Remove engine cover upward.
- Remove oil filter cover -arrow- using -SW24- .
- Filter element, removing
Note:
- Removing the filter element will open a valve and oil in the filter housing will flow automatically into the crankshaft housing.
- Replace O-ring -2- as well as oil filter insert -3-.
- Tighten cover -arrow-.
- Open oil drain plug or extract engine oil.
- Install oil drain plug with new gasket.
- Fill the engine oil.
Tightening Specifications
Oil filter cover 25 Nm
Oil drain plug 50 Nm
Note:
- Check for cleanliness.
4.2 FSI (RS4)
- Remove engine cover upward.
- Loosen screws -1- and unclip line -2-.
- Lay aside bracket.
- Remove oil filter cover -arrow- using -SW32- .
- Filter element, removing
Note:
- Removing the filter element will open a valve and oil in the filter housing will flow automatically into the crankshaft housing.
- Replace O-ring -2- as well as oil filter insert -3-.
- Tighten cover -arrow-.
- Open oil drain plug and drain engine oil.
- Install oil drain plug with new gasket.
- Fill the engine oil.
Tightening Specifications
Oil filter cover 25 Nm
Oil drain plug 25 Nm
Note:
- Check for cleanliness.
- Do not extract engine oil!
