Fuel Level Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Fuel Level Sensor 2 G169, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Portable multimeter V.A.G 1526 C







- Connector test set V.A.G 1594 C

Test sequence
- Remove rear seat bench.







- Unbolt cover for left locking flange - arrows - .







- Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - at left locking flange.







- Connect hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 C between terminal - 2 - and - 3 - for resistance measurement.







NOTE:
- If measured value is 0 Ohm there is a short circuit. If measured value is infinity Ohm there is and open circuit in the wiring.
- To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty" , the Fuel Level Sensor 2 G169 must be removed and the sensor floater must be placed in upper or lower end position.
- With Fuel Level Sensor 2 G169 removed, the following values are obtained because of the greater deflection of the floater arm
