Suspension Assembly Overview
1 - Hex bolt
• 75 Nm
2 - Washer
3 - Hex bolt
• Always replace after removal
4 - Upper rear control arm

5 - Hex bolt
• 7 Nm
• For adjusting track constants "S"
6 - Bolt
7 - Self-locking nut
• 45 Nm
• Always replace after removal
8 - Hex bolt
• 40 Nm
9 - Self-locking nut
• Always replace after removal
10 - Upper front control arm
• Mounting bracket, removing and installing, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket
• Replace bearing, refer to => [ Front and Rear Upper Control Arm Bearing ] Front and Rear Upper Control Arm Bearing
11 - Suspension Strut
• Note different types of suspension versions, see vehicle data plate => [ Explanations of the production
control numbers (PR number) ] Application and ID.
• On vehicles with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC II), empty and fill the system, refer to => [ Dynamic Ride Control, Emptying and Filling ] Service and Repair.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Strut ] Strut

12 - Hex bolt
• 70 Nm plus an additional 180° turn
• Always replace after removal
13 - Lower guide link
• Guide link, removing and installing, refer to => [ Guide Link ] Guide Link
If the hydro-mount leaks, it must be replaced, refer to => [ Guide Link Bearing ] Guide Link Bearing.
14 - Nut
• 110 Nm
• Always replace after removal
15 - Wheel Bearing Housing
• On vehicles with headlamp range control module, note sensor removal and installation, refer to => [ Vehicle Level Sensor in Vehicles with Automatic Headlamp Vertical Aim Control ] Front Suspension.

16 - Collar bolt
• Always replace after removal
• Note work sequence when loosening => [ Remove drive axle ] Front Suspension, when tightening => [ Install drive axle ] Front Suspension.

17 - Flange bolt
• 10 Nm
18 - Cover plate
19 - Self-locking nut
• Always replace after removal
20 - Hex bolt
• 90 Nm
21 - Support for subframe
• A tunnel crossmember can also be installed instead of subframe supports.
• Tunnel crossmember, removing and installing, refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember ] Service and Repair
22 - Hex bolt
• 55 Nm
23 - Hex bolt
• 110 Nm plus an additional 90° turn
• Always replace after removal
• Threads in body can be repaired according to DIN 8140 using wire thread inserts (Heli-Coil). Thread insert must be same length as thread in body.
24 - Hex bolt
• 40 Nm plus an additional 90° turn
• Always replace after removal
25 - Coupling rod
26 - Hex bolt
• 40 Nm plus an additional 90° turn
• Always replace after removal
27 - Lower control arm
• On vehicles with headlamp range control module, note sensor removal and installation, refer to => [ Vehicle Level Sensor in Vehicles with Automatic Headlamp Vertical Aim Control ] Front Suspension.
• Control arm, removing and installing, all engine versions except 3.0L TDI and 3.2L FSI, refer to => [ Control Arm, All Engines Except 3.2L FSI ] Front Suspension
28 - Hex bolt
• 70 Nm plus an additional 180° turn
• Always replace after removal
29 - Hex bolt
• 75 Nm
• Always replace after removal

30 - Subframe

31 - Self-locking nut
• Always replace after removal
32 - Self-locking nut
• Always replace after removal
33 - Socket head bolt
• First pre-tighten all bolt to 15 Nm, then tighten all bolts to specified torque.
• Tightening specifications:
M8 bolt: 40 Nm
M10 bolt: 70 Nm
34 - Backing plate
35 - Drive axle

36 - Hex bolt
• Always replace after removal
37 - Self-locking nut
• 50 Nm plus an additional 90° turn

38 - Collar nut
