Rear Differential Bushing



Rear differential bushing, replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Assembly tool T40032





^ Engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383.
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1332

Removing
- Position Engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A with universal transmission support 1359/2 under rear final drive and secure rear final drive.





- Remove bolts securing front support of rear final drive - arrows -.
- Remove drive shaft from rear final drive.
- Secure drive shaft to body with wire.
- Remove combi bolts at differential bushings.
- Remove bolts securing rear final drive to rear crossmember.

Note:
^ Lower rear final drive just enough for access to remove upper bolt.

- Remove rear crossmember from below.





- Use removal and assembly tool T40032 as shown in illustration and pull out differential bushing.

Note:
^ For ease of illustration, the subframe is shown removed from the vehicle.

Installing
- Align differential bushing as illustrated





- Use removal and assembly tool T40032 as shown in illustration and install differential bushing arrow

Note:
^ Install from the front.
^ Outer ring of bushing flush with sleeve on subframe.

- Position rear crossmember on rear final drive and tighten combi bolts.
- Bolt rear crossmember to subframe.
- Bolt front support to rear final drive.
- Bolt drive shaft to rear final drive.
- Remove engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A.
