Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Tiptronic Switch

• The circuit board => [ (Item 6) Printed circuit board ] Selector Lever Handle and Shift Mechanism Cover Assembly Overview must be replaced, to replace the Tiptronic switch (F189).

• If malfunctions at the Tiptronic switch (F189) occur, check first whether the magnet at the control slide masking panel is properly secured and replace the masking panel if necessary. Before replacing the printed circuit, check the wiring.

Removing

- Remove the cover for the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Cover ] Shift Mechanism Cover.

- Press down the retaining hooks - arrows - and pull off the cover - 2 - from the guide - 1 -.





- Remove the circuit board with integrated Tiptronic switch (F189).

- Check the magnets - arrows - on the cover strip for secure seating.





• The cover strip must be replaced if a magnet is missing.

Installing

Installation is in the reverse order of removal, note the following:

- Install the cover for the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Cover ] Shift Mechanism Cover.
