Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

General Notes on Ignition System

General Notes On Ignition System

- The engine control module is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
- A voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary for satisfactory functioning of the electrical components.
- In the case of some tests, a malfunction may be recognized and stored by the control module. At the end of all tests and repairs, the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory should be checked and, if necessary, erased.
- If the engine starts briefly and then stops after the DTC search, repair or tests on components, this may be because the immobilizer is blocking the engine control module. The DTC memory must then be checked and, if necessary, adaptation carried out on the control module.
