Component Group 1

The following illustration shows the allocation of the components on the Audi A3; the allocation of the components applies (with a few differences) applies also the Audi A3 Sportback and the Audi A3 Cabrio.

1 - Heated Windshield (Z2)

Activation occurs via Heated Windshield Control Module (J505).

Introduction as optional equipment not yet finalized.

Removing and installing front windshield.

2 - Sun Roof (With Solar Cells)

Introduction as optional equipment not yet finalized.

3 - Heated Rear Window (Z1)

The request is sent by the Climatronic control module (J255) / by the A/C control module (J301) via the CAN-bus Comfort system, activation of the heated rear window occurs via the vehicle electrical system control module (J519). Refer to Electrical Equipment and Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".

Heated rear window function, refer to Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".

4 - Forced Air Extractor

Fitted on left and right beneath rear bumper.

Sealing doors on air extraction vent must be able to move freely and close automatically.

In order for the passenger compartment ventilation to function properly, the air ducts that run through the luggage compartment trim must be unobstructed.

Checking, refer to => [ Vent Frame, Checking ] Vent Frame, Checking.

5 - Fluid Reservoir

May only be removed when refrigerant circuit has been discharged; bring vehicle to a workshop that has the necessary tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified personnel.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fluid Reservoir ] Fluid Reservoir.

The reservoir may be attached to or integrated in the condenser, depending on the version of the condenser. Refer to => [ Fluid Reservoir ] Fluid Reservoir, => [ Dryer Cartridge, Denso Condenser ] Dryer Cartridge, Denso Condenser or => [ Dryer Cartridge, Modine Condenser ] Dryer Cartridge, Modine Condenser.

Dryer cartridge (on a condenser with an integrated fluid reservoir), removing and installing, refer to => [ Dryer Cartridge, Denso Condenser ] Dryer Cartridge, Denso Condenser or => [ Dryer Cartridge, Modine Condenser ] Dryer Cartridge, Modine Condenser.

6 - Condenser

May only be removed when refrigerant circuit has been discharged; bring vehicle to a workshop that has the necessary tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified personnel.

Refrigerant lines, disconnecting and reconnecting, refer to=> [ Condenser Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Condenser Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Condenser, removing and installing, refer to => [ Condenser ] Condenser.

7 - Stone Deflector For Condenser

Installed only with certain optional equipment. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

8 - Outside Air Temperature Sensor (G17)

Removing

- Remove the bumper cover.

- Unplug connector at temperature sensor and unclip from mount in air duct

The measured value of the outside air temperature sensor is evaluated by the Instrument cluster control module (J285) and transmitted via the CAN-Bus system to the Climatronic control module (J255) / A/C control module (J301) ). Check using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".

9 - A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280)

For checking activation and functionality, refer to => [ A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280), Checking Switch-On Signal ] A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280), Checking Switch-On Signal.

10 - A/C Compressor

Remove A/C compressor from and reinstall onto the bracket, refer to=> [ Compressor, Removing From Bracket ] Compressor, Removing From Bracket.

A/C compressor refrigerant line, disconnecting and reconnecting, refer to => [ A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines ] A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines.

A/C compressor, removing and installing, refer to => [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor.

Depending on time period of production and on engine, compressor construction type may vary. Refer to=> [ Refrigerant Circuit Component Overview ] Refrigerant Circuit Component Overview and Electronic Parts Catalog.

Replace the belt pulley. Refer to=> [ A/C Compressor and Pulley ] Service and Repair.

11 - Pre-volume

Is a component of refrigerant line from expansion valve to A/C compressor.

Pressure fluctuations are damped in the damping chamber.

Not installed in all vehicles (currently not installed on the 2.0L diesel engine).

12 - Label

With specifications for type of refrigerant and designated fill capacity.

13 - Plenum Chamber Water Drains

Checking, cleaning, refer to=> [ Plenum Chamber Water Drain, Checking and Cleaning ] Testing and Inspection.
