• Ball joint puller (T40042)
Removing
Affects Vehicles with Air Suspension
- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
- Perform system vent using (VAS 5051 A). Refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] System, Venting or Filling.
Affects All Vehicles
- Remove wheel trim cap, remove cover cap on light-alloy wheels (removal hook in vehicle tool kit).
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove noise insulation.
- In vehicles with level control system sensor, unscrew nut - 6 -.
- Remove the nut from the control arm just enough so it is flush with the joint pin threads. Use 6 mm socket wrench to hold joint pin, if necessary.
- Press linkage stub of track control arm off conical seating using (T40042).
• Make sure that both puller lever arms are parallel to each other when using greatest force, adjust if necessary.
• In order not to damage the joints of the upper control arms, it is necessary to use (V.A.G 1383 A) , for example, to brace wheel bearing housing against too strong rebound.
- Remove hex bolt - 1 -.
