Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motors (V48)/(V49)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Protective Gloves

Protective Eyewear

Box Cutter

Danger to life due to high voltage.

Removing

- Remove the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.

The headlamp must be cut at the designated location with a sharp box cutter to replace the adjustment motor.

A cap can be ordered to seal the opening. Refer to the parts catalog.

There is a risk of injury and damage.

Wear protective gloves and eyewear.

To avoid damaged electrical wires in the housing, do not cut too deep.

- Cut the cover - 1 - out of the headlamp with a sharp box cutter.






Remove any shavings and grit on the blind cover from the headlamp.

- Remove the screws - arrows - for the adjustment motor - 2 -.

- Remove the parking lamp and daytime running lamp module. Refer to => [ LED Parking Lamp/Daytime Running Lamp Modules (L176)/(L177) ] LED Parking Lamp/Daytime Running Lamp Modules (L176)/(L177).






- Reach through the opening of the parking lamp and daytime running lamp module and press the ball head mount - 3 - back.

- By swiveling the control motor - 1 -, push the ball end of the positioning stem downwards out of the socket.

- Remove the adjustment motor from the headlamp.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.

Installing

Tightening specification, refer to => [ HID Headlamp with Cornering Lamp Overview, through 2012 ] HID Headlamp With Cornering Lamp Overview, Through 2012.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Start by inserting the ball end of the positioning stem from underneath in the reflector socket. To do so, pull the reflector to the rear.

- Close the opening in the headlamp with the cover - 1 - from the repair kit. Refer to the parts catalog.






- Tighten the screws - arrows -.

- Install the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.
