Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12 - 29 dated February 3, 2012 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition
For Xenon headlights, the parking lights holder is difficult to remove when replacing the bulb.

Technical Background
This bulletin is for information only and should be used to aid in the removal of the bulb from the holder to prevent damage to the holder.

Production Solution
Not applicable.

Service

This procedure requires a set of curved/bent needle nose pliers.

1. Remove the round headlight access cover.

2. Remove the connector to the turn signal/indicator bulb holder.

3. Detach the turn signal/indicator bulb holder by turning the socket counterclockwise and pulling. This will provide access to the parking light holder.

4. Use the pliers to grip the parking lights holder above the plastic tab. To make things more clear, the parking lights holder has been removed from the headlight house (Figure 5).

Note:
Place the pliers in front of the plastic tab (Figure 5).

5. Reach in to the headlight housing and crimp the pliers tightly (Figure 5) onto the bulb holder.

6. Detach by wiggling and pulling on the holder.

Tip: Be sure to crimp tightly and not to use the plastic tab as leverage because this can break the plastic tab

7. The installation takes place in reverse order. The pliers are not needed when installing the bulb holder.
