Shift Interlock: Service and Repair






Selector Mechanism Emergency Release, Performing

If voltage supply to selector lever lock solenoid is missing (battery discharged, fuse faulty) or the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of P position. for example the vehicle cannot be moved because parking lock is engaged.

Proceed as follows:

- Check fuses.

- Check battery voltage.

- If no malfunction is found in voltage supply, perform selector mechanism emergency release as follows:





- Carefully pry selector lever boot out of boot trim using a small screwdriver - arrow 1 -.

- Pull selector lever boot upwards at both sides - arrows 2 and 3 -.

- Fold selector lever boot up.

- Release selector lever lock solenoid - A - by pressing lever - B - inward - arrow - with a screwdriver - 1 - and hold in this position.





The solenoid releases selector lever.

- With solenoid released, press button on selector lever handle and shift selector lever out of P.

If selector lever is shifted back into P, it is mechanically locked in P by the selector lever lock solenoid and it must be released again.
