Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair






Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (G40)

- Remove the ribbed belt.

- Remove vibration damper.

- Remove toothed belt.

- Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator solenoid valve (N18).

- Disconnect the connector - arrow - from the CMP sensor and pull the connector out of the mount.






- Remove the CMP sensor - arrow -.






- Remove the ribs with a screwdriver and remove the cover for the repair opening - arrows -.






- Remove the CMP sensor from the cylinder head and guide the connector through the opening in the toothed belt guard.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

Seal off the opening in the toothed belt guard with a rubber plug. Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA)

- Mount the toothed belt and adjust the valve timing.

- Install vibration damper.

- Install the ribbed belt.
