A/C Compressor Drive Plate with Overload Protection, Checking Run-Out and Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Universal Dial Gauge Mount (VW 387)

• Dial Gauge

Procedure






- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to => [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor.

- Clean the drive plate flange - A -.

- Secure the gauge - B - to the A/C compressor with the (VW 387) - C -.

- Attach the dial gauge probe - D - to the drive plate flange with a pre-tensioning of approximately 1.0 mm and set the gauge to "0".

- Turn compressor drive unit - E - a few turns.

• Target value for the run-out deviation: less than 0.21 mm.

• Maximum variance: 0.2 mm.

- If the run-out deviation is greater than 0.2 mm, repeat the adjustment for the drive plate. Refer to => [ Drive Plate with Overload Protection ] Drive Plate With Overload Protection.
