Engine Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

The
engine speed sensor is mounted on the bellhousing, adjacent to the starter ring gear. The teeth of the ring gear, cause electrical pulses in the speed sensor with each crankshaft revolution. These pulses are sent to the ECU to determine engine rpm.
