Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

B. BMW Label Identification

B. BMW LABEL IDENTIFICATION AND CONTROL MODULE EPROM REPLACEMENT

This information can be used to determine if the original DME control module is still installed in the vehicle. The information contained on a correct/valid label can be used to enter data (part number for a programmed control module) as requested during the determination phase.

NOTE:
The part number for a basic (programmable) control m6dule can also be obtained from the DME Identification screen as the BMW Hardware Number.

The part number for a programmed control module can also be obtained from the DME identification screen as the Part Number.

The flow chart is to be used for obtaining the part number for a replacement control module. If a complaint of "no start after programming with no indication of coil damage" is received, only the EPROM should be replaced not the entire control module.
