Wire Testing:

General Procedure:

An electric lead should always be tested in accordance with the relevant electrical wiring diagram since it shows the function, general layout and connections of the line.

The following test procedure is recommended:

1. Check wire for continuity (resistance measurement).

Attention! The wire must carry no current!

2. Check the wire for a short to positive or ground.

Move the wires and plugs during the test in order to find any loose contacts.

3. Visual inspection of the wire.

Is the wire damaged, pinched or broken?

4. Check the plug connections.

Do the connections make good contact?
Are the connections oxidized or moist?
Are the connectors damaged?
Are the connections firmly fitted in their housings?

5. Check the pins at the control unit.

Are the pins damaged, bent or pushed back?
