Lost or Stolen Key

LOST OR STOLEN KEY

There is no limit to the number of times a key can be activated/deactivated (bar/released).

ENCODING
The EWS II Control Module stores the Central Coding Key and VIN. If the EWS Control Module is replaced, the system must be encoded to transfer or manually input the Central Coding Key and VIN.

If the Coding Key and VIN can be read out from the defective EWS Control Module with the DIS or MoDiC, it can be stored and transferred to the replacement EWS Control Module using the coding program.

Encoding will also transfer the ISN from the defective EWS to the replacement EWS control module.

DME / EWS SYNCHRONIZATION
Synchronization is required to transfer the DME ISN code from the DME Control Module to the EWS II Control Module. Anytime the DME Control Module is replaced, the EWS/DME system must be synchronized to match the new ISN in the DME.

If a factory coded, replacement EWS II control module is ordered and the vehicle will not start, review the service history of the vehicle and see if the original DME control module has been previously replaced. If it has, the ISN in the replacement EWS II control module must be synchronized with the present DME.

Synchronization of the EWS is performed in the dealership using the MoDiC with the latest programming software.
