Crankshaft Sensor

TEST PROCEDURE:

Status Monitoring:
The engine speed signals can be monitored at cranking speed or when the engine is running.

Further tests are possible with the multimeter. Connect terminals for the oscilloscope at the component connector and crank engine. An AC voltage characteristic curve with positive and negative half waves should appear on the display screen.

NOTE: The Digital Motor Electronic (DME) does not output an ignition and injection signal if the engine speed signal is not applied.

Resistance Test:
The resistance can be measured directly at the component connector (at the connector strip for injector valves). Refer to Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Possible Defect Cause:
If wire, plug connection or resistance are OK:
- Check distance of the pulse generator to the incremental wheel on the vibration damper - 0.15 to 1.5 mm.
- Setting at adjustable holder - 1.0 + 0.3 mm.
