Trailing Arm: Service and Repair


Removing and installing complete left or right semi-trailing arm

Caution: After completion of work, perform chassis alignment check, refer to Wheels, Tires and Alignment.

Disconnect hand-brake cable on the wheel brake, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.
Remove output shaft, refer Transmission and Drivetrain.
Drum Brakes:
Unscrew brake pipe holder on trailing arm.
Unfasten brake line on wheel brake cylinder, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.
Disc Brakes:
Unscrew brake pipe holder on trailing arm.

Remove brake caliper (without unfastening the brake line) and tie up, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.

Installation:
If necessary, bleed brake system, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.





Note:
Shock absorber has a retaining strap effect.
Support trailing arm with a workshop jack.
Unfasten screws and lower workshop jack.

Installation:
Shock absorber Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.
Control arm Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Unscrew screw.

Installation:
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Unfasten screws.

Installation:
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.

Note: Damaged threads in bushes on body side can be repaired with Helicoil thread inserts M 12 X 1.5 X 18. The Helicoil thread inserts must be fitted flush with the original thread.
