Situation: As many of you are already aware, Mr. Klaus Malenke from ZF is on assignment with the BMW NA Service Engineering Department in Montvale, New Jersey. In his 16 years with ZF, Mr. Malenke has gained experience on many of their product lines including steering gears and pumps, manual transmissions, and most recently with the passenger car automatic transmission division.

Mr. Malenke's primary responsibility is technical assistance on the A5S 560Z (5HP30) transmission, found in the 540iA, 740iA/iLA, 750iLA, 840CiA, and 850CiA models, and the A5S 310Z (5HP18) transmission, found in the M3A, 530iA, and 530iTA models. We also encourage all dealers to make use of this valuable resource for other ZF products, including steering components, and welcome your comments on its effectiveness.

Warranty Information:
Mr. Malenke must be contacted through the BMW Technical Hotline regarding any service or repair concerns relating to ZF automatic transmissions. Replacement of a complete transmission requires prior approval from Mr. Malenke. your Regional Technical Specialist or the Technical Hotline. Refer to the contact made in the comment section of the warranty claim. The replacement of a complete transmission without prior approval will be subject to debit.
