Cruise Control: Description and Operation

The cruise control system consists of the control unit, selector lever and cruise control actuator. The control unit receives signals from the following components:

1. Instrument cluster (speedometer).
2. Automatic transmission range switch.
3. Clutch switch (manual transmission only).
4. Brake light switch.
5. Cruise control switch.
6. Cruise control actuator.

The cruise control system operates with the engine running and a minimum vehicle speed of 25 mph.

The cruise control system will automatically turn off when the brake pedal is depressed, the clutch is depressed, transmission is moved to Park range, or if the vehicle speed is less than 25 mph.
