Adjusting Sun Roof
Adjusting Sun Roof:
Ideal adjustment:
Distance (A) of lid to roof equal at front and rear
Height:
Front - flush to 1 mm deeper
Rear - flush to 1 mm higher
CAUTION!
Do not move floating roof liner with force.
Conform precisely with procedures as otherwise mechanism (guide/rotary catch) in the sun-roof cassette would be damaged, which would then have to be replaced.
Shut sun roof (neutral position).
Turn winder counterclockwise until resistance is felt (dead travel). Continue turning winder about 1/2 turn.
Cars with Electric Sun Roof:
Briefly touch button to open the roof.
Rear end of sun-roof lid should now be lowered by distance (A).
Distance (A) = 2 to 3 mm
Push floating roof liner back slowly and as far as possible.
CAUTION! Quick movement of the floating roof liner could damage the mechanism (guide/rotary catch) of the sun-roof cassette.
Do not move floating roof liner with force.
Shut sun roof (neutral position).
CAUTION! Sun roof must no longer be operated back (mechanism would be damaged).
Rear Adjustment:
Remove left and right nuts (2) and screws (3) and replace them.
Push left and right adjusting wedges (1) in or out enough until the ideal position is reached. Before tightening down, press slide/tilt sunroof forward and tighten down nuts (2) and screws (3).
Front Adjustment:
Unscrew left and right screws (1) and replace (micro-encapsulated) or install old screws with Loctite No.270, Source of Supply: BMW Parts.
Push sun-roof lid up or down until the ideal adjustment is reached.
Tighten down screws (1).
Turn winder counterclockwise until resistance is felt (dead travel). Continue turning winder about 1/2 turn.
Cars with Electric Sun Roof:
Briefly touch button to open the roof.
Rear end of sun-roof lid should now be lowered by distance (A).
Distance (A) = 2 to 3 mm
Pull floating roof liner forward.
Check function.
CAUTION! Quick movement of the floating roof liner could damage the mechanism (guide/rotary catch) of the sun-roof cassette.
