Testing Notes For The BMW Diagnostic System

Testing With The BMW Diagnostic System:

Test Conditions:
Battery charged, minimum 12 V
Fuses associated with the Automatic Climate Control System (IHKR) are okay
The matching BMW Diagnostic System adapter must be used for testing.
The IHKR must be connected such that it is fully operable.

Test Notes:
Defect codes may be stored by the control unit when it is disconnecting and checked. The defect codes stored prior to testing must therefore be printed out.
The inputs and outputs listed in the following are not stored in the defect code memory of the IHKR control unit:
Inputs (E): Buttons, terminal 15, terminal 30, terminal 61, vehicle speed signal, engine speed signal, diagnostic link RxD
Outputs (A): Function lights, diagnostic link TxD.
