REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FUEL LEVEL SENSOR (RIGHT):

Sucking the fuel out of the fuel tank, Service and Repair




- Disconnect plug connection (1) for fuel pump.
- Disconnect plug connection (2) for fuel level sensor.

NOTE: Ensure that area around fuel tank screw connection is clean.




- Disconnect fuel inlet hose (1).

NOTE: Fuel-tank expansion line is installed in the fuel tank.




- Unfasten rotary connection with special tool 16 1 020.

Installation Note:
- Check rotary connection for damage and replace if necessary. To ensure adequate preload on the seal, always fit new rotary connection on torsion bar.
- Mark starts of threads on screw cap and tank, fit screw cap and tighten down with torsion bar, then check torque.




Installation Note:
- Always replace sealing ring. To do this, first insert seal in fuel tank.




Installation Note:
- The marker rib on the fuel delivery unit must match the mark on the fuel tank.




- Carefully remove fuel delivery unit.
- Press altitude sensor toward housing slightly.




Installation Note:
- Swivel in screen and float in fuel tank, pressing height button slightly towards housing.




Installation Note:
- Press height sensor onto inside face of fuel baffle when inserting.
