Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor

Transmission Oil Temperature (NTC)

The TCM detects the transmission oil temperature from the NTC sensor attached to the wire harness in the oil pan.

The oil temperature input is used:

- To modify the shift engagement with cold running
- For torque convertor lockup control with cold running
- For determining the correct oil level. (temperature dependent checking)

The sensor produces a varying voltage signal at the control unit that reflects the temperature of the oil.

As the oil temperature increases, the resistance through the sensor and voltage signal at the TCM decreases.

A5S 360R: This transmission has an NTC temperature sensor connected to the wiring harness. It is a separate replaceable component.
