Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Removing and installing/replacing position switch (A5S 440Z)





Remove rear underbody protection from assemblies.
Remove left and right heat shield.





Brace clamping bush (1) and loosen nut (2).

Installation:
Adjust shift lever, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.





Pry out retaining plate with a screwdriver. Remove cable (2).





Support transmission with special tool 00 2 030 / 24 5 301 / 24 00 250.





Loosen screws and unscrew approx. 10 mm.
Lower transmission approx. 10 mm.





Slacken nut (1).
Remove shift lever (2).

Installation:
Tightening torque, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.





Unfasten screws and pull position switch (1) off manual shift valve shaft.

Installation:
Tightening torque, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.





Unlock and remove cable connector (1).
Unfasten cable connector (2) from retaining bracket and unclip cable from retaining clips on the oil pan.
