Removing and Installing/Replacing Control Unit For Electronic Engine Power Control


IMPORTANT!
Follow instructions for removal and installation of electronic control units.
Refer to General Information on disconnecting Battery.
Switch off ignition.







Unfasten screws.
Tightening torque, refer to Technical Data 12 14 4AZ.

Specifications

Remove cover from control unit box.







Control unit (1) (DME 1): disconnect plug connection and remove control unit from bracket.
Control unit (2) (DME 2): disconnect plug connection and remove control unit from bracket.
Control unit (3) for Electronic Transmission Control (EGS)
Control unit (4) for Electronic Engine Power Control (EML)
For subsequent procedure during exchange of control units, refer to DIS.







Unfasten plug connection from all control units.
Remove control unit (4) from bracket.
Interrogate fault memory of control unit for Digital Motor Electronics (DME), check error messages in memory, rectify faults and clear fault memory.
