Idle Valve Control

Part 1 Of 2:

Part 2 Of 2:

The idle control valve is used on traction control systems that have the Engine Drag Torque (MSR) control function. The idle control valve is opened in conjunction with the decel fuel cutoff cancellation and timing advance to reduce the engine's braking effect.

Based on the wheel speed sensor inputs, the traction control module detects an unstable condition on decel. The MSR function is activated and the traction control module will signal the engine control module to carry out the regulating function.
