On Board Computers (OBC/BC)

On Board Computers (OBC)

Trip computers are used to calculate and display relevant trip data while driving. Several versions are used depending on model year.
- OBC III and IV - E32 and E34
- OBC V - E36
- MID (BC V) - E31 and E38

Functions of the computers include:
- Time and Date - with hourly reminder
- Outside temperature - with freeze warning
- Average fuel consumption
- Average speed
- Estimated time of arrival to programmed distance
- Speed limit warning
- Driving range left on fuel in tank
- Timer/programming for parked venting feature
- BC code alarm function

The OBC features remote control through turn signal lever on the steering column. BC functions can be called up using the switch.

BC code alarm works in parallel with the DWA alarm and EWS drive away protection systems. In addition to an audible alarm, it also cancels the operation of the engine management system.
