Shifter LED Stays Illuminated

MODEL:
X5 (E53) with Automatic Transmission

SITUATION:
On some X5 vehicles, the shifter console LED stays illuminated after consumer shut off.

CORRECTION:
Do not replace any parts, this is a normal situation and will not result in a discharged battery.

If a customer complains of a low battery, check closed circuit current (SIB 61 08 00 dated 08/00) and troubleshoot the vehicle electrical system in the regular way.
