Introduction

Control module encoding and programming procedures can only be implemented using BMW Special Tools and Equipment. There are two coding/programming tools, each have their advantages and limitations. The following are all of the available tools:
- MoDiC (Mobile Diagnostic Computer) Used in conjunction with the MoDiC Station (MS).
- DIS (Diagnostic and Information System)

Each of these tools are always subject to upgrading. With the introduction of new control systems and new coding/programming software the possibility of change exists. Always refer to the latest IDC and SI bulletins for up to date information concerning changes to encoding/programming procedures and the physical characteristics of the tools.
