Replacing DME Control Unit




Replacing control unit (DME) (Z3)

Note instructions for removal and installation of electronic control units.

Before replacing the control module, always follow the instructions listed below:
Encode control module,

Program control module,



CAUTION!
Be sure to interrogate fault memory with MODIC or BMW DIS and print out fault memory.


Switch off ignition.







Unscrew bolts (1).
Remove cover (2).

Installation:
Install wiring loom (3) with grommet in proper position in cover (2) (water tightness).







Fold wiring harness (1) to one side.
Fold up retaining clip (2) on plug connection.
Disconnect connector.


Installation:
Observe control unit part number and coding when replacing.
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit, check faults in memory then cancel fault memory.
