Lower Control Arm
Remove/Replacing One Lower Control Arm
Without Chassis Alignment Check
Caution: After completion of work, perform chassis alignment check, refer to 32 00 150.
Support trailing arm from underneath using a workshop jack.
Spread plastic panel and remove from control arm.
Installation:
Opening in panel pointing upwards.
Mark position of eccentric bolt (1) to control arm with center marks (2); this simplifies subsequent camber adjustment.
Release nut (1) on trailing arm and remove eccentric bolt.
Installation:
Note insertion direction of bolt.
F = direction of travel
Fit eccentric washer (2).
Tightening Torque, refer to Technical Data 33 32 1 1AZ.
Release bolt on rear axle carrier and remove.
Car with final drive 188 compact: In order to remove the bolt, it is possible to detach the final drive from the rear axle carrier and press it towards the rear, refer to 33 10 010.
Take off control arm.
Installation:
Insert thread plate (1) into opening in rear axle carrier.
Tightening Torque, refer to Technical Data 33 32 15AZ.
Installation:
Welded seam of control arm must face upwards.
