Remove or Replacing Left or Right Output Shaft

Note: Output shafts differ in length. If necessary, mark output shafts
Left: short output shaft.
Right: long output shaft.

Remove rear wheel. Service and Repair
Lower exhaust system at rear.

Release stabilizer bar on rear axle carrier.

Tilt stabilizer bar downwards.

Warning!: Secure collar nut by caulking on flat areas of output shaft.





Release collar nut.

Tightening torque:
M22 200 Nm (148 ft lb)
M24 250 Nm (185 ft lb)
M27 300 Nm (222 ft lb)

Installation:
Replace and oil collar nut.

Secure collar nut by caulking on flat areas of output shaft.





Release screws and press output shaft off drive flange.
Tightening torque:
Fillister head bolt M10 83 Nm (61 ft lb)
with locking teeth M10 96 Nm (71 ft lb)
M12 110 Nm (81 ft lb)
Torx Bolt M10 83 Nm (61 ft lb)
with ribbed teeth M10 100 Nm (74 ft lb)
Black M10 100 Nm (74 ft lb)
Silver (replace) M10 80 Nm (59 ft lb)
M12 135 Nm (100 ft lb)


Installation:
Fit shims (1).

Caution: Secure output shaft against falling down.





Screw on special tools 33 2 111 / 116 / 117 with 2 wheel studs (1).
Press out output shaft.





Installation:
Screw special tool 33 2 119 onto output shaft.
Screw on special tool 33 2 116 with 2 wheel studs (1).

Install output shaft with special tool 33 2 115.
