SUBJECT
CC Message: "Roll-Over Protection Inactive"
MODEL
E64 (6 Series) Start of series production to August 27, 2004
SITUATION
The "roll-over protection inactive" CC (Check Control) message appears yellow in the instrument cluster.
FC "9421 - roll-over power reserve voltage not OK" is stored in the fault memory and the airbag warning lamp is on.
The fault occurs only intermittently.
CAUSE
Software error in the SGM (safety gateway module)
PROCEDURE
Do not replace parts.
Clear fault memory
In the event of a customer complaint, perform diagnostics with DIS or GT1 to confirm problem. As soon as available, reprogram the vehicle using CIP CD V 13.1 - refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization and Programming), Procedure B.
