SUBJECT
Replacement Remote Key Inoperative

MODEL
E65, E66 (7 Series) with Comfort Access (option 322)

SITUATION
The functions of the "Comfort Access" system are not available on replacement keys (remote controls) ordered after delivery of the vehicle. The other functions, e.g. "engine start" are not affected.

The original keys work perfectly.

CAUSE
Initialization error

PROCEDURE
Using CIP 15.2 or higher (now Progman) perform the following procedure:
1. Select "Load Software" after Progman session is started
2. Answer "No" to "Have control modules been replaced?"
3. If a "Status Report" is displayed then continue updating the vehicle software before performing the next step. Refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming) Procedure B
4. Select "Retrofits"
5. Select "Key CA"
6. Select "Four Keys" and finish the procedure as instructed
7. This procedure will give the Comfort Access system the ability to use 4 remote control keys (normally the factory has 2 remotes initialized)
