32 31 095 - Removing and installing / replacing steering column control unit (CIM)





Important!
Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD protection) 61 35 ... Notes on ESD Protection (Electro Static Discharge).





Important!
To avoid damaging the control unit, make sure when installing that the baseplate is not subjected to tension.

After installation:
- Replacement only: Initialize steering column using BMW diagnosis system (control unit functions)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove panel for (active) knee protector





Disconnect plug connection.
Release screws and remove steering column control unit.
Tightening torque 32 31 9AZ [1][2]Specifications.
