SUBJECT
Audio Source Doesn't Change Correctly Via "MODE" Button

MODEL
E46 (3 Series) with Navigation system

SITUATION
Intermittently, audio does not change to "Next Entertainment Source" when the "MODE" button on the Board Monitor is pressed.

The following may occur:
^ With only two sources (Radio and CD) it changes momentarily to the next source, but then changes back

^ With multiple sources (Radio, CD, CDC, SIRIUS, etc.) it advances two modes with one press

CAUSE
The double-contact design of the "MODE" button.

When the "MODE" button is pressed just off the mid-position, one contact closes just before the other giving a double input.

CORRECTION
Do not replace any parts.

Explain the intermittent effect to the customer.

Recommend not pressing the button in the middle.
