Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Compression Pressure Check

Compression Pressure Check
- The compression pressure check with the DIS tester takes place indirect via the current consumption of the starter motor.
- The pressure sensor is required to obtain a reference pressure and for cylinder allocation.

What can be detected with the compression pressure check?
- Unequal cylinder fill levels at minimum lift
- Combustion chamber leaks

When does a compression pressure check takes place at maximum lift?
- If the compression pressures at minimum lift have such a large deviation that there could also be a combustion chamber leak, the test module automatically offers a measurement at maximum lift.
- Combustion chamber leaks are indicated by great deviations in the measured values at minimum lift and maximum lift.

Important!
- The assessment of the compression pressures at minimum lift must be performed separately for each cylinder bank.
- The compression pressure check at minimum lift does not include an eccentric shaft calibration.
