Front Subframe: Service and Repair

51 71 374 Removing And Installing/Replacing Reinforcement Plate On Front Axle Support

Special tools required:
- 00 9 120

IMPORTANT:
- Vehicles must not be driven without reinforcement plates.
- Driving without the reinforcement plate may damage the front axle.
- Screws of reinforcement plate must be tightened to torque and then tightened down with special tool 00 9 120.







All except M Roadster / M Coupe:
Unfasten screws (1 and 4).
Release screws (2) and remove reinforcement plate (6).

Installation:
Replace screws (2).

- Install all screws
- Tighten down screws (2) to specified torque
3AZ Reinforcement plate to front axle support/engine carrier
Note: Replace screws
59 Nm
Note: Jointing torque
90°
Note: Torque angle

- Tighten down screws (1 and 4)

Replacement:
Release screws (3) and remove heat shield (5).







M Roadster / M Coupe only:
Unfasten screws (1 and 4).
Release screws (2) and remove reinforcement plate (6).

Installation:
Replace screws (2).

- Install all screws
- Tighten down screws (2) to specified torque
3AZ Reinforcement plate to front axle support/engine carrier
Note: Replace screws
59 Nm
Note: Jointing torque
90°
Note: Torque angle

- Tighten down screws (1 and 4)

Replacement:
Release screws (3) and remove heat shield (5).
