Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Replacing Knock Sensor(s) (S54)

Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit. Switch off ignition.

Remove intake air manifold.







Release nuts and place idle-speed control valve (1) to one side.







Unlock plug and detach from knock sensor.
Release knock sensor screw connection on engine block.



Remove knock sensor.







Installation:
Torque: 20Nm
Clean contact surface of knock sensors on engine block.


NOTE:
Interrogate fault memory of DME control module.
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Then clear fault memory.
